Typing Pal offers a free basic typing course to improve keyboarding skills. The site also offers a useful typing test to estimate typing speed and ten tips to improve typing performance. Learning exercises, text practice sets, and information about ergonomics add to the comprehensiveness of the site. Typing Pal also offers a free demo version of Typing Pal Junior, a keyboarding course designed for 7 - 14 year olds. The site gives very detailed information on countries' geography, society, economy, transportation, communications, government, politics and history. This source does not cover some of the world's smaller countries.
Microsoft Terra Server
The Microsoft Terra Server is an online database of satellite photographs of the planet earth. The images are from two sources: the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and Spin-2. "The United States Geological Survey (USGS) provided georectified digitized aerial photographs (known as digital orthophotoquads) from their vast files. SPIN-2 provided high-resolution satellite images, products of a joint Russian/American venture to market declassified satellite photographs from sophisticated Russian mapping satellites."
